Silence speaks

With a look of resignation, he sat
Staring into the blankness of the water
this was Most certainly not where he was at

The thunderous roars of others raged
Yet he remained unmoving, unflinching
A mountain, a rock or something more
Why was he not engaged

Perhaps of arrogance, selfishness and greed
These deadly sins indeed.
Or maybe confidence, patience and calmness
Traits that would explain this seeming indifference

A torrential rain. Howling winds.
Creases of doubt spread across his benign face.
Rage, white and hot. Kindling bursting into flames.
Drops of sweat mar his grace.

None will know his plight,
But his silence speaks a thousand words
